  • Scholarship Available for Dual Credit Courses
Mary Jo Young Scholarship application now available
The Mary Jo Young Scholarship provides assistance with tuition and textbook expenses for high school students who are enrolled in dual credit courses at a Kentucky college or university.   Awards are made with priority to students who are eligible for free and reduced price-lunch.
The amounts of the scholarship are up to $405per course, with a maximum of two courses per semester, plus a textbook reimbursement allowance of $125 per course.  Students who receive a 100% dual credit tuition waiver as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the KY Community and Technical College System, the KY Department of Education, and the KY Office of Career and Technical Education  may use their award to cover the $50 administrative fee that is charged directly to them.
The scholarship application process has changed.  To apply, students will now need to go to KHEAA’s website at www.kheaa.com, sign into Zip Access at the top of the home page, select the Zip Access account link, choose “Apply Online for Scholarships” from the menu on the left, click on the Mary Jo Young Scholarship application link, and follow the instructions from there.  Students will receive a confirmation message once they have successfully completed the application process.  Students using Zip Access for the first time will need to click on the “Register now” link on KHEAA’s home page to create a Zip Access account before being able to access the application.
Scholarship applications for the 2012–2013 year are available until May 15, 2012.  KHEAA will be contacting counselors to obtain additional certification information once the application period ends.   Students and schools will be notified of scholarship awards as soon as possible after June 1.  Questions regarding the Mary Jo Young Scholarship or the new application process should contact Danny Prather at 800.928.8926 ext. 67399, or danprather@kheaa.com.
