Read Across America Week

An image of the cat in the hatGet ready for "Read Across America Week'!

Read Across America will be celebrated February 26-March 2 at Highland Elementary.  Each day will be a special dress-up day as students are encouraged to stop and enjoy some time for reading.  There will also be a Dr. Seuss parade float contest.  Each student is encouraged to make a "float" out of a cereal box or shoe box that highlights a Dr. Seuss book.  These will be displayed in the library.  Three winners will be chosen by the student votes.  Winners will receive "book fair cash" to spend at the Spring Book Fair March 5-9.  The prizes are as follows:  1st- $25.00, 2nd-$15.00, 3rd-$10.00  For more info on the dress-up days. Highland Elementary students win at Jr. Beta HES wins 1st Place in Group Talent at Jr. Beta

Highland Elementary students recently competed at the Kentucky Jr. Beta Convention.   Group Talent placed 1st in Division 1.  Ellie Ball placed 1st in Speech and 1st in Painting.  Ava Jackson, Traigen Simmons and Chloe Caldwell placed 2nd in Book Battle.  Harrison Belcher placed 3rd in Woodworking. These students all will be competing at the National Convention in Savannah, Georgia in June.   Highland also received the GOLD Key growth award for the club.   Addyson Norris, Kinleigh Glass, Kyndel Moore and DaNiya Wooten received Golden Tickets to perform at the opening ceremonies at the National Convention in Savannah, Georgia in June.

Students from Highland Elementary, South Green Elementary, Glasgow Middle School and Glasgow High School were recognized at the February regular meeting of the Glagow Board of Education.   The students were recognized for being selected and participating in the KMEA and ACDA All-State Choir.

Glasgow High School Choral Department presents Meredith Wilson's The Music Man Meredith Wilson's The Music Man
